Seasonal Snow Removal Information

Picture
For the 2012-2013 winter season, the board has selected Brickman Group to perform snow removal services for Sarah's Glen.

For homeowner awareness, the basic details are of the agreement are as follows:
  • This is a seasonal "cap based" contract that is in effect from November 15, 2012 - April 15, 2013. There is a fifty (50") inch cap on snowfall during contract term. If the 50” cap is exceeded, any additional services are billed to Sarah's Glen at negotiated T&M rates.
  • Deicing service/material (rock salt / calcium chloride) is not included in the fixed fee portion of the contract and requires property management (or board member) approval. When approved by property management, deicing material will be applied to streets, driveways, parking spaces and unit stairways/walks. Deicing services are billed on a "per application" basis at a negotiated rate.
  • Snow removal services will be performed after two (2") inches of accumulation, as measured by Weatherworks. For snowfalls of less than two (2") inches, the property management company may approve the application of deicing material, depending on temperature, forecast and other conditions.
  • Services shall begin once significant snowfall has ceased (for smaller events), or when accumulations have reached four (4) inches (for larger events).
  • The type and amount of equipment used on-site is at the service provider's discretion.
  • An industry standard "blizzard clause" is invoked for snowfalls exceeding ten (10") inches over a 24 hour period. Negotiated T&M rates go into effect for the entire event. The snowfall totals during such an occurrence do not count against the seasonal cap.
  • Individual homeowners cannot "opt out" of having their driveway salted / deiced.  Driveways are considered limited common area and the responsibility of the Association. Additionally, the Association shall not be responsible for snow removal from a driveway if vehicles are parked there (see Sarah's Glen Rules & Regulations).
  • Designated parking spaces will be used for snow piling/stacking as needed. Please keep parking rules/restrictions in mind, especially during the winter months. Illegally parked cars will be towed.
  • Homeowners are responsible for removing any objects (decorative lighting, planters, etc) that are within two (2) feet of any walk, stairway or driveway. Brickman Group will not be responsible for any damage to such objects.

If you have any questions, compliments or complaints regarding the snow removal services, please contact W.L. Seymour, our property management firm. Email is preferable and provides a trackable chain of communication.  Homeowners should not be in contact the service provider directly.
